Customer Service Agent

Job Opportunity:

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for you on Berxi’s Customer Support Team.

Berxi is a fast-growing start-up within Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. We set out to build a modern, customer-focused, digital platform to help professionals and small businesses buy and manage insurance smarter and faster – all of which saves them time and money.

You will be responsible for providing exceptional service to both prospective and existing Berxi customers and driving growth through voice, chat, and email. We’re looking for problem solvers who are advocates for our customers and the Berxi brand. This team contributes directly to improving the Berxi experience by providing ongoing Voice of Customer and user experience feedback to Berxi’s Product, Marketing, and Underwriting teams.

You will be part of a team that is focused on exceeding customer expectations and helping build the Berxi business. We don’t obsess over average call handle time; instead, we focus on doing the right thing and doing right by the customer. We empower you to solve the customer’s problem on the first interaction while delivering a personal, empathetic experience. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Educate and assist customers and prospects directly through a variety of channels, including voice, chat, and email.
  • Guide customers on insurance products and coverages based on their individual needs.
  • Become an expert in the small commercial insurance space, including but not limited to, professional liability and medical malpractice products.
  • Drive customer experience improvements by continuously surfacing Voice of Customer feedback and operational enhancements across the Berxi team.
  • Make outbound communications to obtain policy and account information.
  • Must be able to work the hours of 10 AM – 7 PM EST or 11 AM – 8 PM EST.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and adaptable to change.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and explain insurance policy concepts and products.
  • A problem solver that constructively questions processes and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and time management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities in tandem.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Adaptability to varying customer personality types and situations.
  • Eager to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, start-up team environment.
  • Background in working directly with customers is required. Insurance experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Property and Casualty Insurance License is preferred, but not required. If not already licensed, you will be required to become a Licensed Insurance Agent within 45 days of joining the team (costs will be covered by Berxi).
  • Interest in providing customer support via social media is preferable, but not required.

Director of Integrated Marketing

Job Opportunity:

As the Director of Integrated Marketing, you’ll be responsible for defining and implementing integrated marketing strategies and campaigns to generate and nurture qualified leads through the sales/purchase funnel. You’ll work collaboratively across the entire marketing team, located in Boston, to develop new strategies that include the optimal marketing channel mix including web, email, paid advertising, content, direct mail, and social media. You’ll work with channel leaders and the marketing ops team to ensure all marketing tactics and campaigns are held accountable and perform against the company’s key growth objectives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Build, lead, and develop the Integrated Marketing team to ensure that Berxi delivers a cohesive experience for its target audiences across owned, earned, and paid channels. Foster a team culture of performance, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Effectively manage the channel teams and oversee the integration of marketing efforts across multiple channels, including digital, social media, email, direct mail, and traditional media.
  • Work with the Head of Marketing to craft an integrated marketing strategy that links to broader organizational, product, and growth-related objectives. Identify priority target audiences and devise strategies to engage them effectively. Establish clear KPIs for both the team and individuals, ensuring everyone understands their goals within the department.
  • Drive growth for all Berxi’s product offerings and lead the marketing planning process, including crafting the marketing strategy, integrated marketing plan, campaign briefs, and allocation of budget; Craft inspiring creative briefs and align stakeholders.
  • Set priorities and goals for campaign performance and optimize based on results, data, and insights.
  • Analyze customer and audience insights to translate them into marketing and/or growth strategies. Track, analyze, and report on the performance of marketing campaigns. Make data-driven decisions to enhance future marketing efforts.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to develop compelling, on-brand campaigns that resonate with our target audiences.
  • Proactively manage the marketing budget, allocating resources effectively to maximize profitable growth of the business. Monitor spending and ensure cost-effectiveness in all marketing initiatives.
  • In partnership with marketing ops and channel leaders, implement A/B testing across advertising platforms and Berxi.com, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Devise new customer segmentation strategies to enable more personalized and relevant marketing messages and experiences.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • 10+ years’ experience in marketing; minimum of 8 years direct experience in digital/website, ecommerce, content strategy & creation, and/or lead generation marketing.
  • Enterprising “doer,” with an ownership mentality and a bias towards action, who derives great satisfaction in growing a business; Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strategic driver that can “think the business,” derive clear, salient ideas from complex information and very clearly communicate them to a diverse set of stakeholders in a way they will understand.
  • Well-developed influencing, interpersonal and collaboration skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders to turn ideas into plans and deliverables, and achieve common objectives.
  • Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage, mentor and develop high-performing and highly engaged teams.
  • Extensive experience setting goals, managing a budget, and delivering against monthly spend, ROAS and LTV targets across a broad range of marketing activity.
  • Holistic full-funnel marketer with experience scaling digital and non-digital channels that drive growth. Experience building and implementing full-funnel acquisition campaigns, inclusive of integrated tactics from awareness through purchase.
  • Ability to analyze marketing data, derive insights and opportunities, and leverage data to drive decisions along with having a passion for continuous testing and optimization.
  • Possess a strong, creative, strategic, and collaborative approach to problem solving – navigate effectively through difficult issues, build required consensus to drive business needs and results.

Financial Data Analyst

Job Opportunity:

We are looking for a Financial Data Analyst to join our Berxi data team in our Boston office. You will be responsible for analyzing financial data to produce insightful reports on business performance. You are familiar with programming languages like SQL and Python, and have worked with BI reporting tools such as PowerBI or Tableau, and proficient using major office software programs like Word and Excel. You are highly organized and able to manage large amounts of complex data in an efficient manner. You will play an integral role in supporting financial planning and analysis with our leadership team to achieve our financial goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare queries and reports of financial results for stakeholders and leadership team.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, business system analyst, cross-function teams to mitigate data risks that impact financial results when system updates are implemented, and when new data is being integrated into the database.
  • Developing financial models and forecasting tools to support planning and decision-making.
  • Perform account reconciliations, implement data corrections, and execute other administrative tasks as required.
  • Assist in preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial analysis of actual versus budget variances.
  • Design and administrate key financial performance metrics.
  • Assist leadership team in financial budgeting and forecasting.
  • Conducting ad-hoc financial analyses and presenting findings to inform business decisions.
